Zap : Electric Narratives is the first programs that Greenhouse Project will carry out. During the three weeks in which the show will be in view, we will fulfill our commitment to engage emerging curators, multidisciplinary artists, art critics, and a diverse public.

Conceived as a group show, Zap: Electric Narratives presents emerging artists whose work has a narrative or storytelling content and that requires, in some degree, the use of energy. In the same way that the group show is integrated under each artist’s concern with the element of narrative implicit in his or her work, sources of energy work as a material unifying conducer.

For three weeks the work of our artists will be in display at an alternative space.

In light of our commitment to collaborate with independent and emerging curators, the body of work has been selected by members of our curatorial group and outsider collaborators.

Also every Saturday during the length of our exhibition, we will feature the plugged stories series, which will draw performance artists to collaborate in poetry or narrative reciting/readings accompanied by musician of electric instruments. The purpose of this program is to create a setting of artistic and community cooperation between artists of different performing disciplines.

In addition, Saturdays will be “meet the artist” dates, in which the public can discuss directly with the artist the nature of his or her work and his or her involvement with the greenhouse project. Meetings during the week can be scheduled to receive class visits from interested schools or colleges.

Zap: Electric Narratives is a highly representative sample of the Greenhouse Projects’ curatorial work. It embodies our commitment to push forward an eloquent, inclusive and challenging curatorial programming.

Although we compete against galleries in New York City, we believe in providing more than an exhibition.  Our work engages with and for the community with the potential to transcend format, cultural and geographical borders.

The exhibition space is located 817 Metropolitan avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It is located steps away from the Graham avenue stop on the L train.

To our benefit, Williamsburg has been undoubtedly placed on the cultural map amongst other areas of New York City. This area has been described as a continually transforming community, whose close location to Manhattan and loft living continues to seduce artists worldwide. It is the new SoHo of Brooklyn and an, arguably, important and specific micro-market on the Brooklyn side of the East river. Williamsburg is already known for its community involvement, international influx of performance artists, traditional and experimental visual artists, designers, multimedia artists, writers, musicians, indie film folk and young business people.  In addition to this, its population continues to increase.
